Disease Management

Our Seed Garlic Tests Negative for Bloat Nematode and White Rot

To give you peace of mind, we test our seed garlic through the University of Maine.

We test every variety of our organic seed garlic annually at the University of Maine’s Plant Disease Diagnostic Lab. See Our 2025 Diagnostic Report here.

Our seed garlic has tested negative for bloat nematode and white rot since 2012.

We grow all of our own seed garlic and have brought no outside garlic (or other allium bulbs) onto our farm since 2012. We practice strict field sanitation (no sharing equipment or visitors walking through our fields!) and rotate our fields a minimum of every four years.

Post harvest, we thoroughly cure and inspect your seed garlic and ship your garlic clean, healthy and ready to crack into cloves for planting.

Our Seed Garlic Types

18 Varieties Across 6 Types of Organic Seed Garlic

Khabar.JPG

Marbled Purple Stripes (Hardneck)

Chunky, beautifully striped bulbs with 4–7 big cloves. Cold-hardy and vigorous, with bold flavor and a moderate storage window (about 4–6 months) when well cured. Scapes may be looser/less curly than other hardnecks.

GermanWhite.JPG

Porcelain (Hardneck)

Grower and kitchen favorites: very large, smooth white bulbs with 4–6 giant cloves. Extremely cold-hardy, strong classic garlic flavor, and easy to peel. Moderate storage.

Carpathian.JPG

Rocambole (Hardneck)

Chefs' favorites. Rich, complex flavor. Bulbs typically carry 8–10 russet-colored cloves. Moderate storage period.

ChesnokRed.JPG

Purple Stripe (Hardneck)

The ancestral parent from which all garlic is thought to be descended. Named for its vivid purple striping, with 8–12 cloves. Great garlic for roasting. Long storage for a hardneck.

FrenchRed.JPG

Artichoke (Softneck)

Braid-friendly softneck with 10–20 cloves in layered rings. Mild-to-full flavor and very long storage life.

Japanese.JPG

Asiatic (Softneck)

Early maturing softneck in warmer regions; our Sakura variety grows well in Maine). Bulbs usually have 5–6 large cloves; flavor is bold when raw and smooth when cooked. May form a weak scape in colder climates; moderate storage.

Local Delivery

Skip the shipping and call or text 207-870-7813 to arrange to pick up your seed garlic order in person at our farm. And if you’re not in a hurry we can deliver larger bulk orders for free (15 lbs+) within a twenty five mile radius of our farm (Belfast, Waterville, Bangor area).

Fair Pricing

We price our organic seed garlic about 15-20% below what the big seed companies charge. Seed garlic pricing has started to feel detached from reality—we love garlic, but not when it’s priced by the bulb!

  • We think our pricing is fair and sustainable—sustainable for you and it gives us a sustainable farm income.

We keep our prices low by doing most of the labor ourselves, with a little hired help from our neighbors during planting and harvesting.

We save you money with bulk discount pricing, with the deepest discount designed for commercial growers. These discounts are calculated at checkout.

We save you money by never trimming our roots. We never have for ourselves and never will for you. This is purely cosmetic, designed for end-use consumers at grocery stores and farmers' markets. Dry, clean roots add absolutely nothing to the shipping weight of our product (test this for yourself!) and the absence of healthy roots can disguise symptoms of bloat nematode.

We save you money by shipping through the US Postal Service. Not only does USPS have the best rates, using it helps support this economic backbone of every small rural community in America!

Money-Back Guarantee

if for any reason you are not happy with the quality of your seed garlic please return the unused portion (whole bulbs or cloves) for a full money-back refund! Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse shipping charges.
